HD Shanghai School is proud to be a partner of the Rhode Island School of Design
https://ce.risd.edu/summer-teen-art-institute/
, one of the best art and design colleges in the world.
Since 2022, HD Shanghai School has been collaborating with the RISD Continuing Education team
and launched the first RISD Summer Teen Art Institute (STAI) in China. The STAI program has attracted
students from 14 cities worldwide to fully immerse themselves in a truly unmatched art and design summer experience.
In this project-based and experiential program, students encounter new ways of thinking, explore
meaning in their work and give voice to their personal visual expression—key assets sought by art
college portfolio reviewers worldwide.
Students participate in collaborative critique and receive verbal and written feedback on their
work: critique and feedback are crucial to the creative process and to advancement; they provide
students with a visual language that can reinforce, challenge and shape ideas.
Throughout the program students also develop a series of visual studies: studies—investigation
through sketching and prototyping — that will inform their portfolio development and make it truly word-class.
All participants learn not only from RISD Faculty, but will also benefit from interactions with RISD
Alumni Tutors. Collectively, the program provides an authentic RISD learning experience and community
for students in China and beyond.
